Çankaya University, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences is established to coordinate matters concerning graduate programs, admissions and adminisitration.

 Industrial Engineering a  Graduates of natural sciences, engineering (except agriculture) economics and management departments.
 Electronic and Communication Engineering a,c  Graduates of all higher education programs.
 Interior Architecture a,c  Graduates of architecture, interior architecture, civil engineering, industrial design, city planning, urban planning, graphical arts and related departments.
     
 Programs Without Thesis LES Type*

Eligibility

 Computer Engineering a,c  Graduates of engineering and natural sciences departments.
 Industrial Engineering a  Graduates of natural sciences, engineering, (except agriculture) economics and management departments.
 Electronic and Communication Engineering a,c  Graduates of all higher education programs

 General Requirements
 

Applicants are required to take LES, ALES or GRE (Graduate record examination).

  • LES equally-weighted score of 45 or more,
  • ALES equally-weighted score of 55 or more,
  • GRE equivalent score of 610 or more,
     

Applicants are also required to take an examination/interview and English proficiency examination that will be conducted by the departments for Turkish and non-Turkish students. Those who have not been found successful in English proficiency examination are permitted to improve their language in any language institution for one year.

However, those who have the following minimum scores from the other tests of English will be exempted from the English proficiency examination:

 Documents Required to be Submitted for Application

  2. Original and two copies of graduate examination record sheet (LES/ALES/GRE). LES score should be dated later than May 2006.
  3. Original and one copy of transcript.
  4. Receipt indicating 50 YTL. has been deposited in Vakýfbank Meþrutiyet branch account number 2045148.
  5. One passport size photograph (Photocopy is not accepted).
  6. Curriculum Vitae (two copies).
  7. Original and two copies of English proficiency examination record sheet.
     
 
 

 Documents to be Submitted for Admission

 
  1. Original and one copy of the identity card.
  2. Original and one copy of the undergraduate diploma or of the graduation certificate.
  3. Letter of residence ( within last six months) for Turkish students.
  4. Original and one copy of the certificate of military service postponement. (For Turkish citiziens only) .
  5. Student visa for foreign applicants (notarized or attested).
  6. Residence permit (for foreign students) certified by the General Directorate of Security.
  7. Translation of passport for non-Turkish applicants .
  8. $250 tuition to be paid to “Vakýflar Bankasý Meþrutiyet Þubesi Account No: 2045148.
  9. One passport size photograph (Photocopy is not accepted).

 General Regulations Regarding Graduate Programs

 
Graduate level courses consist of courses proposed by the Departments and approved by the Graduate School Administrative Board. Programs of study at the Master's level are based on coursework totaling a minimum of 21credit-hours and the preparation of a Master's Thesis. Non-thesis programs are based on coursework totaling a minimum 30 credit-hours. The maximum duration of Master's studies in thesis option is 4 semesters, and in non-thesis option is 6 semesters.
 
 Extension of Studies
 
The maximum duration of studies in thesis option may be extended two semesters at the most if the student's advisor supports such a request, and if it is approved by the Chair of the Department and the Graduate School Administrative Board.
 
 Prerequisite Preparatory Courses
 

Periods of time spent by students in preparatory courses are not included within the duration period of the Master's program.

 
 Dismissal Conditions
 
  1. Students who are unsuccessful in preparatory program,
  2. Students who are unable to complete the course work in 4 semesters for thesis options and 6 semesters for non-thesis options,
  3. Students who are unable to complete the graduate program in the maximum duration,
  4. Students whose thesis work is evaluated as "U" in two successive semesters, or any three semesters,
  5. Students whose thesis work is rejected by the jury,
  6. Students whose corrected thesis work is rejected by the jury,

    are dismissed.
 
 The Academic Advisor
 

Each student accepted in a Master's program is assigned an academic advisor during the registration period. The advisor is selected among the faculty of the Department concerned, proposed by the Chair of the Department and approved by the Graduate School Administrative Board.

 
 Thesis Project
 

A thesis project is assigned to the Master's degree candidate not later than the beginning of his or her third semester of study, and is proposed by the advisor and approved by the Chair of the Department concerned and the approved by the Graduate School Administrative Board.

 
 Changing an Advisor or Thesis Topic
 

A student's advisor and/or thesis topic may be changed, such a change is proposed by the Chair of the Department concerned and approved by the Graduate School Administrative Board.

 
 Undergraduate Courses
 

A Master's student may register for maximum two undergraduate courses, carrying a maximum of 6 credit-hours, as part of the coursework included in the approved duration of his or her program of graduate study, provided s/he has not previously taken this course.

 
 Graduate Courses at Another Institution
 

A Master's student may take graduate courses offered in English at other Universities, on the recommendation of a student's academic advisor, and with the support of the Departmental Board and the approval of the Graduate School Administrative Board.

 
 Semester Grades
 

In order for a student to be considered successful in a course s/he must receive a grade of at least "CC" for that course. A student who has received a grade of less than "CC" for a course, and is therefore considered unsuccessful, may repeat that course again the next semester it is offered, or may take a new course instead as a substitute, subject to the approval of his or her academic advisor.

 
 Successful Completion of Coursework
 

For a student to complete his or her Master's courses successfully, s/he must achieve a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.70

 
 Thesis Evaluation
 

At the end of each academic semester, a student's thesis work is evaluated by the thesis advisor, and approved by the Chair of the Department concerned, as either satisfactory (S) or Unsatisfactory (U).

 
 Submission of Thesis
 

The thesis must be prepared in accordance with the general Graduate Thesis Format determined by Graduate School. A binded copy and CD of the final thesis must be submitted to the Graduate School Secretary.

 
 Appointment of the Jury
 

Following the completion and submission of the thesis to the Graduate School, secretary the Graduate School Administrative Board, taking into account the recommendations of the Chair of the Department concerned, appoints a thesis jury members.

 
 Defence of the Thesis
 

The thesis jury meets at a specified date approved by the Graduate School, and appoints a Chairperson from among its members.

The candidate defend his/her thesis before the convened jury. The thesis jury, having evaluated the written thesis and the candidate's defence, may by a majority vote arrive at one of the following decisions: i) Approved; ii) Rejected, iii) Repetition of Thesis Defence; iv) Approval Upon Alteration, if the jury has suggested certain alterations in the thesis. The decision of the jury is conveyed orally to the candidate; and in written form, with justifications, to the Graduate School.

 
 Repetition of Thesis Defence
 

A candidate from whom a 'Repetition of Thesis Defence' is expected, may enter for a thesis defence again within not more than three months. The candidate should defend his/her thesis before the same jury .
